My Book is reaching a lot of People
My new book, "The Artists Journey: The Perfumed Pilgrim tackles the Camino de Santiago" was released in June 2010.The book chronicles my 550 mile trek across Spain on the medieval Pilgrimage route known as "The Way of St. James", or "The Camino de Santiago". We drew the changing multitude of landscapes each day as we followed in the footsteps of those pilgrims who have gone before us, and these 57 drawings are featured in the book. It was an immersion in not only the art, culture, landscape and history of Spain, but a step back in time to a simpler way of life traveled at a slower pace. Please join my friend and fellow artist, Tannis Moore, and I on this challenging and rewarding Artist's Journey as we ate and drank, laughed and cried, drew and trekked across an entire country!

Walking and drawing in Spain March 23-June 1, 2011
I am back from my latest adventure of the heart, the art,and the soul. I walked, logging another 800 plus miles on my boots and sketchbook, along Via de la Plata. This is the southern route of the Camino de Santiago, beginning in Seville (southwestern Spain)and finishing in Santiago de Compostella (northwestern Spain). This journey will required 2 1/2 months of walking every day, carrying a backpack with all of my possessions and art materials, across a different country with many long, remote tracks. I am reliving this extraordinary journey as a travelogue, including new artwork and photos, on my blog. Follow along with me vicarioulsy at: theartistsjourney.wordpress.com Buen Camino!
Book Review from "Wanderlust and Lipstick"
Many pilgrims travel the Camino De Santiago to test their body and soul, but Marcia Shaver does it with a canvas in hand. In The Artists Journey, Shaver treks with a friend across the Pilgrim’s Way in Spain to challenge herself physically and mentally and makes time to sit down and draw the scene around her.
Shaver’s perspective on the pilgrimage is both unique and inspiring. She and her friend prefer to take their time on trails not only to slow down and appreciate the view around them but also to make time to draw the scenes at the end of the day. The opinion that we shouldn’t rush through our travels can easily be forgotten when we are wrapped up in seeing as much as we can in a place, but Shaver doesn’t forget. You can see all of her drawings in the pages of the book to enhance your imagination of the trek and they are awe-inspiring drawings no doubt.
This book provides a wealth of information on the Camino De Santiago for anyone interested in making the trek and if you need the motivation, Shaver faces the journey with a determination and passion that is truly admirable no matter the people she meets or the obstacles she encounters. For the author, it is a journey meant to refresh her life and refocus on the woman that she is and that is a journey worth reading about.
New Book Review on "Books, Fitness and Other Stuff"
Read this fun review of "The Artist's Journey" online at:

"This book touched me to the core. I would LOVE to take my own trek through Spain, or anywhere for that matter after reading it. I loved reading about every step, every encounter, every city, and every thought these two amazing women had. I loved the way they complimented each other and kept the other on track.
I loved how the author's writing makes you feel as if you are there with them. You feel their joy and their pain. You "see" what they see. The drawings are a bonus and I loved that they were included in the book.
This book is not only inspirational, it's funny and gripping. I would definitely recommend this book to men and woman of all ages."
